Effective Protest ?

The original tea party protest was the spear head event of a tax protest movement by the American colonist which quickly brought the English tea merchants to the brink of ruin. Like the tea party protest of old, our current protest may only be effective when the impact of our displeasure is felt in the pockets and investment portfolios of Washington politicians and bureaucrats. Of course the government can always print more money, as it has recently become accustomed to doing with abandon, to soften the blow of an actual tax revolt. However is an effective tax revolt possible? If all conservative patriots decided to no longer pay any tax at all, how would that work? The original tea party had teeth because the economic structure of a free market had yet to be tampered with by self seeking socialist ideologues. A Daily Prayer

On this Tea Party Day I am posting this prayer by George Washington. George Washington A Daily Prayer Almighty God, We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection: that thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government, and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of the United States at large. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation.
